Central duty is to assist the Project Engineers in regards with the mechanical aspect of a project. Design components for automation, pneumatic and structural in the field of industrial and food automation machines. Works closely with senior staff and on projects of minimal complexity. Helps plan projects or subtasks. Limited planning required outside immediate or assigned task. Contributes to milestones.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design Mechanical parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
2D quality control drawings for manufacturing.
Component specification and selection.
Enter assemblies and references into document control system (SmarTeam).
Interface with vendors and contractors on a regular basis for part sourcing.
Assembly of prototypes based on the designs created.
Gathering and documenting all project results and then reporting.
Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
2 – 3 years of Mechanical Engineering Experience.
Engineering experience in the automation field.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, standard operating procedures, and Bills of Materials.
Fluency with Solidworks, DraftSight, and Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
Follow verbal and written work instructions and blueprints.
Manage multiple projects with flexibility of adapting to changing priorities.
Work on a team on independently with minimal supervision.
Work is performed largely in an office or climate-controlled warehouse environment. Some hours will be spent at various remote locations. Hours of work are generally during regular business. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee shift schedules, special projects, deadlines, customer needs and various other business concerns. Out of town and overnight travel, both local and international, is required for business and education, by air and/or auto. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as, the ability to bend, kneel, walk or sit for extended periods of time. The ability to reach above head, reach below knees, climb, and work at elevation is also required.
