Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent is mandatory with minimum 10 years’ experience.
Professional /Technical Training:
Injection Molding Tooling Design and Build. Injection Molding processing.
Tooling Cost Estimating, BOM – part cost estimating
Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
Related Experience/Specialized Knowledge:
Cost estimation -Injection Molding Tooling & Parts. Moldflow Analysis, Metal Stampings, Plastic + Metal hybrids, 3D Cad
Automotive experience (10+yrs) Required
Working knowledge of CAD (CATIA) is a plus.
Familiar with automotive OEM Tooling forms and Tooling standards

Demonstrated strong experience of injection molding tool and piece price cost estimation. Metal stampings tooling and piece price experience is a strong plus and desired as many of our components are metal -plastic hybrids. This position is a key function in our North America operations and shares the responsibility for guiding design engineers for manufacturing feasibility of injection molded designed parts, calculation of part and mold cost, management of tooling progress and process optimization during production of plastic and plastic/metal hybrid overmolded parts. This individual will be a self-starter and motivated individual who can accomplish most of the tasks with minimal supervision.

Provide quick turn around on part and tooling cost estimates for injection molded plastic and metal stamped parts for formal quotes to be submitted to our OEM customer.
Analyze the cost of BOM, raw materials, process and tooling according to engineer data and Company internal cost estimating tools.
Utilizing Company tooling standards and own expertise, provide standard tool package definitions and expectations (SORs and SOWs) for outgoing quotes as needed.
Deliver tooling breaks downs for parts production and tooling at a level that can be submitted on customer break down forms.
Master Company tooling cost estimation tools and align these models with regional updates to accurately predict regional estimates for different regions in North America (Canada, Mexico, USA). Work with Head Quarter (Germany) Leads to align and adopt cost calculation models.
Establish and model various cost scenarios with different cavitation and volumes to propose the most optimal tooling-part cost estimations to the project team.
Review part design and provide tool feasibility, guide the engineering team early in the design phase to keep tooling cost optimal by offering alternative recommendations for features that are driving the tooling cost higher.
Provide the expert opinion on tooling material, cavitation, and surface finish by taking in to account the lifetime volume and cycle times.
Work with the supplier to develop and approve quotes for injection mold and metal stampings tools and parts. Review supplier breakdowns, and understand all cost influent factors, compare against benchmarks, engage supplier and optimize supplier quotations.
Keep track of assigned tools, monitor progress and prepare reports used by management for tracking purposes.
Prepare, carry out or recommend changes in tool and/or fixture redesign, alterations and change of material specifications, dimensions, methods, etc. as required by engineering changes and/or VAVE activities.
Resolve manufacturing problems involved in the injection molding/ stamping of products.
When assigned, manage select tooling suppliers to design, develop, construct and deliver new injection mold tooling, including adherence to timing plans. Work with tooling suppliers to trial and approve new tools for shipment.
Must have the ability to review and approve tool designs and manufacturing feasibility documents such as Mold flow, Warpage Analysis, and stamping simulations.
Travel to tool shops, manufacturing plants and HQ as needed is required
