Vice President- Production, Planning, & Control

Location:

Novi, MI

Objective:

  • Deliver products to customers with the shortest lead time from order to shipment. As the head of the production control function, need to be responsible for the production volume and schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate sales trend forecasts and new business information
  • Coordinate the availability and necessity of production of the number of units required by Company Sales
  • Create, propose, and finalize the short/mid/long-term production business plan to achieve truck business goals
  • Partner with affiliated departments, Company Sales, and Company’s Japanese branch regarding production of products to include issue resolution and required adjustments 
  • Ensure coordination regarding component design changes due to engineering management, cost reduction, functional improvements and issue resolutions
  • Coordinate the development of new product production
  • Balance Company production demand with production capacity to determine weekly/monthly/annual production volume
  • Collaborate and coordinate U.S. unit supply requests and secure production volume with Company’s Japanese branch
  • Create, propose, and finalize the weekly/monthly/annual review through accurate part/unit inventory and Company’s Japanese branch to US logistics coordination
  • Manage inventory (units and parts) based on sales status and appropriate sales requests from vehicle inventory
  • Determine the monthly production volume and order quantity to Company’s Japanese branch
  • Offer technical or operational recommendations to affiliated departments, Company Sales, and Company’s Japanese branch for process improvement
  • Travel to sites for production-related problem solving through root cause analysis, development, implementation, and verification of corrective actions.
  • Reform and innovate daily operations regarding demand and supply management
  • Develop department strategies and implement best practices, to improve operational performance
  • Manage departmental and individual goals
  • Lead standard and actual change point management and improve process management from “built in quality” point of view.
  • Prepare departmental budget and forecasts
  • Develop strong relationship with affiliated departments, Company Sales, and Company’s Japanese branch

Duties:

  • Determine the monthly production quota by balancing the production demand from sales with production capacity in the US            
  • Coordinate with Company’s Japanese branch on unit supply requests from the US side and secure production volume in the US (including unexpected responses)
  • Manage inventory (units and parts) based on sales status and appropriate sales requests from inventory (vehicles).
  • Determine the monthly production quota and order quantity to Company’s Japanese branch

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of production related experience in an automotive company highly preferred.
  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) or
  • BS in Economics , Manufacturing , Prodcution Management , Supply Chain Management

Required Skills:

  • Strong skills in interpersonal relations, communication and ability to inspire individuals to succeed
  • Competency in manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience
  • Working knowledge of technical materials to include drawings, testing data, inspection data, statistics data, and industrial standards
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers and suppliers
  • Strong MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read engineering prints

Travel Requirements:

  • 20% domestic and international travel
