Position Summary: Engine performance and emissions (P&E) calibration engineer with a strong background in combustion analysis, base calibration mapping, and OBD responsible for using expertise with internal combustion engines to deliver customer projects within EPA and CARB regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities include setting of performance objectives, creation of test plans, use of Design of Experiments and calibration methodology, analysis of engine performance, and emissions data, and use of failure analysis techniques.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates the technical aspects of assigned projects; monitors progress to assure quality and adherence to requirements of contract documents and government regulatory requirements
Interfaces with clients in conjunction with leadership to propose, manage and deliver programs according to client and scope, budgets, and schedules
Writes or contributes to proposals for P&E projects
Reviews product designs for regulatory compliance and safety, adherence to company standards, and client contract requirements
Demonstrates initiative, accuracy and thoroughness; improves and promotes quality, provides feedback to improve both product and project performance
Interfaces with customers to design, modify, and implement test plans
Analyzes and interprets engine combustion, performance, and emissions data in order to make informed decisions on product and project direction
Uses failure analysis techniques to identify failure modes and corrective actions
Monitors own work to ensure quality; looks for ways to improve and promote quality through departmental process improvements; works within approved budget; contributes to profits and revenue; conserves organizational resources
Meets productivity standards; strives to increase productivity, completes work in a timely manner
Conducts research studies to develop new concepts or systems in dynamic systems field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Two years of experience includes responsibility for engineering solutions from design to implementation in similar industries
Background in Internal Combustion Engine development and calibration including emissions and OBD monitor development, tuning, and certification demonstration
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong problem solving, analytical and listening skills
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic and matrixed organization
Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task
Excellent presentation skills and communication skills
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
Familiar with ETAS INCA and ATI Vision engine management software packages.
