Durability Engineer

The Durability Engineer - RTS will be responsible for setting up and conducting durability tests using MTS real-time hydraulically actuated simulators and conducting data acquisition using various data acquisition systems. This involves coordinating test specimen build, setting up data acquisition systems, simulator performance tuning and operation, data processing, daily durability test inspections/reporting, communicating test results to Product Engineering, attending test issue reporting meetings, and assisting in conducting durability issue investigations. As part of the core responsibilities, the Durability Engineer will be required to have a detailed understanding of RPC Pro and FlexTest software to operate the simulators and possess a good ability to operate and conduct data acquisition. A thorough understanding of damage severity concepts is required.
The successful candidate will be a process and detail oriented individual with a proven ability to lead projects from start to finish with minimal guidance. Additionally, good communication and leadership skills are required to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing specimen builds, installations, repairs and teardowns. Finally, an integral component of being a successful member of our team requires working collaboratively with the RTS mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams.
**100% Onsite. Occasional trips to the US for meetings (1-2 times per month)
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Aeronautical Engineering required from an accredited university
· Experience with data acquisition equipment using various transducers including accelerometers, load cells and strain gages.
· Understanding of damage severity analysis and stress-life/load-life calculations MTS RPC Pro and FlexTest experience preferred.
· Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA.
· Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills.
· Excellent written and oral skills.
· Minimum of 2-5 years of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry.
· Will consider new graduates with related co-op experience.
· Ability to support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasion.
· Experience working in a unionized environment
· Experience working with servo-hydraulic systems including troubleshooting and tuning
Preferred Requirements:
· Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial/Aeronautical Engineering. The Bachelor of Science is the minimum requirement. The Master's is preferred.
· Hydraulically actuated testing experience using MTS RPC Pro/FlexTest software.
· Experience with nCode and Somat eDAQ equipment.
· Previous CANBUS experience, (CANanlyzer, etc).
· Strain gauge theory and application.
· Will be required to drive a company car. Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record.
· Will be required to travel domestically and internationally 0-20%.
