Electromechanical Test Lab Engineer PSP CP2870 (1353874)

    • The Test Lab Engineer will work with customers in defining the test request, obtaining buy in from local management for cost, timing, material and headcount requirements. Responsibilities include but not limited to:

       

      • The completion of corrosion vehicle teardowns and e-coat vehicle dissections.

      • Instructing a team of technicians and co-op students in the teardown and dissection process documenting issues and concerns.

      • Fixturing, testing and data collection related to Elastomeric based vehicle components. Various hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment will be designed and used to meet customer requests.

      • Typical documentation will include extensive film thickness readings, metal loss readings and laser scanning of components as required.

      • Reporting and communicating of proper information to affected product engineers will be an important aspect of this position.

      • The coordination and shipping of specimens and samples to various product engineers and suppliers will also be required.

      • Working with external suppliers to lead the dissections of various components, track budgets and help generate purchase orders.

    • Requirements:

      ***100% Onsite. Occasional travel to the US for meetings (1-2 times per month).

      • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Material Engineering required from an accredited university

      • 1+ years of experience on the effects of corrosion on various metal alloys/compositions

      • Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis and suspensions systems

      • Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA

      • Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills

      • Excellent written and oral skills

      • Team Center and NX knowledge would be an asset

      • Must have a valid driver’s license

      • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada with ability to travel to USA

       

      Preferred Requirements:

      • Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation is desirable

      • Engineering experience within the automotive industry, testing experience preferred

      • Will consider new graduates with related co-op experience

      • Experience working in a unionized environment

      • Good communication and leadership skills are required to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics
