CNC Programmer

Valley View, OH
We are seeking a CNC Set-up/Machining Center Operator to join our growing team! In this role, your primary function includes setup and operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) lathes, mills, and machining centers.

Performs operations to maintain, set up and operate all CNC machine tools to perform diversified and first run machining operations on complicated short run and/or long run repetitive work, having close tolerances and specifications, requiring a broad knowledge of machining technology and high degree of skill and experience. Performs functions on remote or PC Local Network System to download programs ready for machining and to upload edited and proven programs. Creates and edits set up information sheets and communicates with programmers and tool engineers. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Job Functions for CNC Set-up/Machining Center Operator

The duties will include but will not be limited to the following:
  • The employee will perform these functions while maintaining a high standard of quality and quantity
  • Utilize all forms of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Works from engineering drawings, sketches, job cards/routers, set up sheets, program printouts, specifications and instruction manuals.
  • Determines which procedures or methods to follow; selects work holding, boring jaws if necessary, tooling, speeds, feed rates and settings for new and unusual work and for standardized work when not prescribed and writes programs when required.
  • Performs first article and in-process inspections.
  • Documents results as appropriate on checklists, inspection reports and/or shop travelers/job cards.
  • May instruct, train and assists team members assigned to operate CNC machine tools and check the work produced.
  • Uses advanced shop mathematics and a variety of measuring tools and gages which require interpretation in various applications.
  • Performs proper and safe material handling, by adhering to the weight limit policy, utilizing overhead cranes or lifting devices.
  • Maintains a high degree of quality and safety and keeps work area clean.
  • Actively engages/participates in continuous improvement activities, kaizen events, and High-Performance Teams.
  • Ensures production/efficiency requirements and standards are met consistently.
  • Works under minimum supervision and direction.
  • Performs these and other duties as requested by Supervisor.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
  • Requires the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and handbook formula.
