Equipment Maintenance & Calibration Engineer - PSP - JP4323

Description:
North America Battery Technology Centre (BTC) is currently seeking an Equipment Maintenance & Calibration Engineer who will be tasked with the responsibility of maintaining and calibrating lab equipment and instruments. This role will collaborate with other lab stakeholders to establish a routine maintenance and calibration schedule. Additionally, the role will liaise with internal partners and external vendors to coordinate preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration for all equipment employed in the battery lab, thereby contributing to a world-class battery lab.

In the initial phase, the focus of this role will be on training, planning, documentation, and the launch of the lab. The Equipment & Calibration Engineer will identify prevention maintenance items, create maintenance plan in collaboration with equipment suppliers, and outline both in-house and outsourced maintenance protocols. Similarly, the role will also be responsible for equipment calibration, working with Test Engineers and the Lab Quality Engineer to identify items requiring calibration. This entails developing a calibration schedule and specifying in-house and outsourced content.

Moreover, the Equipment Calibration Engineer will be responsible for formulating work procedures that adhere to existing safety standards for all standard equipment maintenance and calibration processes. Additionally, the role will establish and manage a comprehensive database containing equipment maintenance and calibration statuses. The publication of maintenance and calibration schedules within the lab will also under this role’s responsibility.

When the lab is up and running, the role will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and calibration tasks. This includes overseeing the schedule, executing the maintenance and calibration plan, implementing corrective actions, generating calibration reports, optimizing maintenance and calibration intervals based on statistical analysis.


Other responsibilities include, but not limited to,
• Completion all mandatory training and adherence to safety requirements
• Oversight of equipment maintenance and calibration planning, notification, and execution
• Addressing repair and unplanned calibration requests from lab internal customers
• Conducting analysis of calibration measurement uncertainty
• Assisting Lab Quality Engineer in implementing the lab’s quality system, ensuring that maintenance and calibration documents and processes align with lab quality system requirements
• Establishing/managing spare parts inventories
• Ensuring all training requirements are kept up to date
• Escalating issues to management when necessary
• Tracking maintenance/calibration analytics and reporting-out to management on a regular basis
• Supervising maintenance/calibration activities carried-out by in-house unionized skilled trades as well as external contractors

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical fields
• Minimum of three years of experience in the field of laboratory or manufacturing equipment maintenance and calibration
• Practical hands-on experience in calibrating common equipment parameters, such as voltage, current, and temperature
• Knowledge of common laboratory tools and instruments
• Knowledge of measurement uncertainty principles
• Knowledge of quality systems, such as ISO 17025 or 9001
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; attention to detail
• Legally eligible to work in Canada


Preferred Requirements:
• Proficiency and hands-on experience with measurement uncertainty practices
• Prior involvement with ISO 17025 accreditation
• Experience working with EV battery test equipment, or similar high voltage, high power systems
• Exposure in unionized workplaces

Additional Must Haves

Previous job relevant experience in equipment maintenance and calibration management
Demonstrated capability in collaboration with partners from internal (lab engineers, unionized technicians) and external (outsourced service providers)
Accountable, customer service focused
Knowledge about lab quality system and calibration
Min. 3 years job relevant experience, same a job description.
Location: 100% Onsite (ARDC, 3939 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, Ontario, Canada)
No Driving a Stellantis vehicle required
Occasional travel to the US for meetings -low amount, 1-2 times per Quarter
