Mechanical Engineer 35874 Location: Lafayette, Indiana Hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Pay Rate: $28 to $29 per hour You will love working as a Mechanical Engineer in Lafayette, Indiana. In this exciting Mechanical Engineering role, you will work with the Spark Ignited Gas Engine Performance team to develop a Caterpillar engine system for use in applications such as Electric Power, Gas Compression, Marine, Petroleum and other Spark Ignited applications. You will work with tools like GT-Power. What you’ll be doing:
Engine performance requirements development.
Engine performance calibration, mapping and validation.
Reporting at Design Reviews and project status reports to Leadership
Support of product validation in a test cell and / or field environment
Engine system modeling
Engine system analysis
Project planning
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in an accredited Mechanical/Electrical or Mechanical/Electrical Technology curriculum and at least 2 years of experience per below
Experience working with either performance development of IC engines OR experience in the simulation/modeling/analysis of IC engine systems and/or sub-systems using GT power modeling
Strong understanding of engine fundamentals and spark ignited combustion
Methodical and data driven approach to problem solving
Ability to work well with others and in a team environment
Strong communication skills
Preferred Skills
Ability to work on several projects at a time. Ability to meet project deadlines.
Simulation experience is NOT required but is a preferred skill.
