  • Description:
    The BMS Software Application Engineer is responsible for developing advanced automotive battery packs from initial design concept through full volume production. The Engineer is responsible for the release and system integration of the BMS on BEV vehicle architectures for products that specifically require in-house BMS controls. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: 


    Develop program BMS software requirements that satisfy vehicle level functional objectives, Cross-functional coordination of SW planning, requirements decomposition, integration and validation efforts with internal and external stakeholders in order to meet critical program milestones.  Lead coordination of BMS SW CDR reviews internally and with the supplier.  Track and manage feature capability and issue recovery for BMS functionality. Coordinate and track validation efforts with cross functional team and supplier. Provide program deliverables on time per major development milestones. Lead CM meetings with internal stakeholders to manage, track and resolve critical issues to support vehicle development and production milestones.
    • Project management for BMS feature coordination and planning to meet vehicle development milestones 
    • Work cross organization and functionally to verify battery software and hardware meet the system needs and battery pack requirements.
    • Document Company Lessons Learned to improve Company BMS requirements and process es
    • Support BMS SW troubleshooting and EOL support at Windsor/Brampton plants as needed – flexibility to travel to support urgent issues.
    • Support as defined the Company Quality Gate and CDR milestones per Propulsion Systems Development Plan (PSDP).
    • Support the validation and test teams with testing and analysis of issues
    • Deploy and facilitate EOL requirements and issue management to support BMS development capability for module and pack DV/PV testing.
    • Collaborate with BMS systems Architect, BMS Systems and SME (Subject Matter Expert) engineers to clarify BMS SW and HW requirements in order to provide technical clarification of designs with suppliers and manufacturing 
    • Work cross functionally to verify BMS electronics and SW are meet all customer needs.
    • Support BMS engineering and management in program execution duties
  • Requirements:
    • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Equivalent
    • Minimum 3 years of product development and/or process development for Li-ion Batteries 
    • Understanding of energy storage systems and vehicle electrification 
    • Good knowledge of battery management system, software and hardware design
    • Good Analytical and Problem Solving Skills 
    • Familiar with BEV, PHEV, HEV and MHEV 
    • Highly Motivated and Self Starter 
    • Experience with requirements flow and development 
    • Demonstrated Ability to Work in a Team Environment
     
    Preferred Qualifications:  
    • High Voltage Battery or High Voltage powertrain experience 

    • Understanding of diagnostics for an electronic module

    • Extensive knowledge and hands on use of INCA, CDA, CAN, CANalyzer, Canoe, and other Electrical root cause tools (such as scopes, etc.).

    Additional Must Haves:

    • 3-5 years of experience with some exposure to project management.
    • High attention to detail.  Proficient in written and verbal communication (ability to work with global team), Autonomous and ability to hold others accountable and use available resources to find creative solutions, goal/timeline awareness
    • Location: 100% onsite ARDC
    • No Driving a Stellantis vehicle required
    • Occasional travel to the US/CTC as well as manufacturing plants if needed is required for meetings/trainings.  Only 1 to 2 times per month
