HVAC Journeyman role in Grand Rapids.
HVAC Journeyman - Position will be 1st shift hours to support the primary open business hours.  After hours requests and weekend work may arise on some occasions.


We are hiring an HVAC Technician to join our Facilities Maintenance Team, where we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of operational efficiency and excellence. We are seeking a skilled and reliable HVAC technician to join our team and ensure the air quality and comfort ranges in our commercial buildings are maintained at a world-class condition.  The ideal candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining the quality and functionality of our facilities.

What You Will Be Doing:

As a member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will play a critical role in providing an outstanding workplace experience for our customers, building occupants, and visitors by ensuring the proper air quality, temperatures, humidity, and ideal indoor air comfort ranges in our facilities.  You will act as a main point of contact for many of the HVAC items that arise around our greater Grand Rapids locations.  Some examples of the roles and responsibilities include:

·         Daily monitoring of HVAC controls and alarms.

·         Daily inspections of HVAC mechanical equipment.

·         Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting any HVAC related issues.

·         Install HVAC equipment and components according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.

·         Perform regular maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

·         Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues. Provide solutions to restore systems to proper functioning.

·         Collaborate with external vendors on design, software, service, and preventive maintenance items.

·         Maintain various refrigerated food equipment throughout the buildings.

·         Perform routine tasks including preventative maintenance items and equipment repairs.

·         Resolve HVAC related issues in a timely manner with an emphasis on customer service.

·         Conduct inspections and identify issues with equipment, systems, and building infrastructure.

·         Manage inventory/supplies and order parts as needed.

·         Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards, and company policies.

·         Maintain accurate records and update maintenance logs.

·         Respond to emergency repair requests as required.

·         Work with members of the facilities team on various maintenance issues as needed.

·         Position will be 1st shift hours to support the primary open business hours.  After hours requests and weekend work may arise on some occasions.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·         High School Diploma.

·         Journeyman must be in good physical health, able to climb stairs, ladders, pick up objects and possess a valid Michigan driver’s license.

·         8 years of experience of Commercial and Industrial HVAC.

·         Experience with building controls.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Suite experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Associates in an HVACR Engineering (or equivalent) .

·         HVAC Journeyman card through the (MDOL or equivalent).

·         Possess a State of Michigan mechanical contractor’s license passing the following work classification: Section 2 HVAC Equipment, Section 5 Limited Heating Service, Section 7 Limited Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

·         OSHAA Certifications.

·         Possess an EPA 608 universal reclaim certification.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

·         Ensure that mechanical systems are operating properly and at peak efficiency.

·         Understanding of the built environment, controls, and mechanical systems.

·         Ability to respond promptly to service requests and ensure their satisfaction.

·         Understanding of the physics and calculations needed to determine building heating and cooling needs.

·         Willingness to work with a team and assist other departments as needed.

·         Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

·         Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations.

·         Ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.

·         Experience in general repairs and maintenance tasks.

·         Understanding of safety protocols and regulations.

·         Analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement solutions.

·         Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance.

·         Effective verbal and written communication skills.

·         Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use new technology.

·         Experience with facilities work order systems.

·         Familiarity with Building Automation Systems for monitoring and controlling building functions.

·         Familiarity with building codes and compliance requirements.

·         Strong focus on customer service when addressing issues.

·         Capability to manage workload efficiently.

·         Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

·         Maintain records and documentation related to maintenance activities.

·         Willingness to work with a team and assist other departments as needed.

·         Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations.

·         Understanding and staying current on industry trends and new technologies.

Willingness to participate in training programs as required.
